Suchnaji.com, Delhi. NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power company, celebrated its 50th Foundation Day today. NTPC Limited has achieved remarkable growth, innovation and contribution during the five decades in India’s power service sector.

CMD Gurdeep Singh hoisted the NTPC flag at Engineering Office Complex (EOC), Noida in the presence of Board of Directors and senior officials. Employees from all locations joined the ceremony through video conferencing.

During the occasion, CMD NTPC virtually launched the Hydrogen-Fueled Buses. The service is scheduled to start in Leh. Hydrogen buses are a significant step towards ensuring NTPC’s commitment to pursue clean and green technologies.

Additionally, he announced a major unprecedented achievement-successful synthesis of CO2 obtained from flue gas with hydrogen produced from PEM electrolyser, which was converted into methanol at NTPC’s Vindhyachal Plant.

He said both the CO2 capture plant and CO2-to-methanol plant are first of their kind in the world, which is a historic step in carbon management and sustainable fuel production.

He further said NTPC is working on Gen-4 Ethanol, Green Urea and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The company has also developed and tested the ‘First Indigenous Catalyst’ for methanol synthesis and has made substantial progress with hydrogen, carbon capture and other innovative technologies, underlining its commitment to build an eco-sustainable future.

50-year logo also unveiled

NTPC’s 50-year logo was also unveiled on the occasion, which reflects its legacy and contribution to India’s progress. The new 50-year logo with infinite loop and fluid nature symbolizes the everlasting commitment to growth and excellence and echoes the 50-year evolution of empowering and creating infinite possibilities.

Over 10,000 girls benefited

He also recognized the exceptional achievements of children of NTPC employees on the occasion. Besides, several new IT applications were launched and a special comic book on NTPC’s mission of empowering the girl child was released. GeM is NTPC’s flagship CSR program which has benefited over 10,000 girls from rural communities.

Gurdeep Singh paid tribute to the visionary leadership of the company’s founders, including Founder Chairman Dr. DV Kapur and other pioneers who laid the foundation of the institution.
